JAN 12th 7PM ET / 4PM PT Considering Art : Considering Close-Up
In collaboration with Considering.Film™, we explore the early work of James Williamson.
As the camera became and indeed continues to become ever more mobile, discrete and compact - the ability to get close to a subject has been a continuous allure for both filmmaker and viewer alike. We will view and discuss both historical and contemporary filmic examples of the close-up.
What compels us to want to move closer? Where is the boundary between closeness and discomfort? How can contemporary film and its use of the close-up respond to the inequities and exclusions that are inherent to early and historical film?
