From a distance, Elias Sime'swall-mounted compositions look like abstract paintings made up of geometric shapes and bold passages of colour. Upon closer inspection, however, the works reveal the patterns made by discarded materials densely packed into almost infinite grids of wire and metal. Sime weaves, layers and assembles everyday materials to transform commonplace objects into lyrical abstractions that suggest natural landscapes and living organisms.
